Erico

(Osaka, 1973)
In the process of studying photography at a photography school in Kobe, I woke up to the fun of photographic expression, and now as a photographer, I take snapshots and landscapes under the theme of "unusual hidden in everyday life" and create works. I have held several solo exhibitions in Kobe, Amagasaki and Tokyo. Even now, I hold many workshops such as table photography and snapshot photography to teach many people about the fun of photographic expression. In recent years, I have been working on a series of works shot with a kaleidoscope. I see the world through filters of various information in my brain such as my memories and emotions. So, I think the world I see represents myself. I want to visualize them in photos and use various means to shoot them

"I think I may be what I see when I close my eyes,
not this outline that I see on the outside.
I want to visualize them with photos."

project description

I return to my home

I thought I'd like to return somewhere all the while from child's time.
The color which feels has looked stealthily at a kaleidoscope by friend's house and I'm wide in the hand then is vivid, beautiful. I got rapturous in the universe. How can one enter in this world, too, is the world after death possibly the beautiful world in such look, though I thought a kaleidoscope might be the one by which the magic through which you can peep at such world is a tool, I forgot time and was gazing. And you could grow up, get married and be the new family while feeling like that which would like to return somewhere. The small life is lost twice, the several days later, my father died of a disease. One was suspected of the same sickness, too, and every day confronted with something as the existence for the first time was sent. A thing around the child who was looking stealthily at a kaleidoscope suddenly was remembered. "Somewhere" where I thought I'd like to return from child's time. They do wanting to do that from former oneself who has lived somehow while being let run and are greedy. I found out that I came from the thought that I say to original myself who tries to live "I'd like to return." The time when I leave this world for all creatures sometime certainly comes. Limited time to that. It's confronted with the world which surrounds itself and itself, and I'd like to enjoy "I live." fully. Beauty of this world. That I'd like to finish feeling. I think you may spend time when meaning with serious this time and many people is confronted with itself compulsorily worldwide. If it's itself now, I think whether it's what's thing. It may be the one by which timing has come. The memory which sleeps in the person who looks stealthily at that was evoked in a kaleidoscope, and I worked on work production based on the supposition of myself who may be adequate that it's projected inside itself. I write the kaleidoscope in which a crystal -ball was installed by myself, apply that to a point of the lens and take a picture.

project presentation

This is the concept

"Hello, I am Erico. Today I would like to talk about the concept of my work. Everyone sees the world through filters of various information in the brain such as their own memories and emotions. Even a plain landscape can look very beautiful or lonely to some people. In other words, I think that the world I see represents not only what I see, but actually myself. I want to visualize the world I see, so I use various methods to shoot. In this project, I shot with a kaleidoscope I made. The reason why it is a kaleidoscope is that when I looked into the kaleidoscope for the first time in a while, I remembered that I used to like kaleidoscope when I was a child, and at the same time, what happened when I was a child and the emotions I felt at that time. Has also come back. At that time, I felt that the kaleidoscope had the power to awaken the memories and emotions that were sleeping in each viewer and to project the inside of himself. For that reason, I used a kaleidoscope to photograph the visible world. The works lined up here are the sights I saw through the kaleidoscope, and there may be something that overlaps with your memories and feelings of seeing my work. It would be great if you could feel that there is a beautiful piece that shines brilliantly in the world around you, and in yourself who sees this work, and that it makes you up now. Please take a look. "
